The Ak-Chin Indian Community and UltraStar Multi-tainment Center will host the premiere of the new short film “Running Deer” 5 p.m. Saturday.
Red Carpet arrivals will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Based on a Native American community following a troubled cross-country runner, the film stars “Twilight” actor Booboo Stewart and Q’orianka Kilcher, who recently was cast in the upcoming X-Men film, “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
John Proudstar, creator of the first Native American comic book “Tribal Force,” will attend the premiere along with Stewart, and director Brent Ryan Green and writer Jeff Goldberg will be part of question-and-answer and autograph sessions following the premiere.
Today, Green and Goldberg will give a free filmmakers workshop to members of the Ak-Chin Community.
