Volunteers needed to counsel juvenile offenders

34

Pinal County Juvenile Court has a volunteer opportunity for those who would like to contribute time to young people who are in need of some special attention.

The Restorative Justice Panels involve community members working with staff to hold young offenders personally responsible for their actions and to guide them toward repairing the harm they caused to victims and their community. This is done by having the family meet with community members to discuss the offense, what they are doing to make positive changes and how they will repair that harm.

A few openings are available in Coolidge, Maricopa and Florence on the panels that meet in the evening once a month. Time commitment averages two hours per month, and volunteers are required to go through a reference and fingerprint check as well as a volunteer orientation.
