Walgreen’s slated to open at The Wells early next year

The Wells shopping center will have a new tenant next year–Walgreen’s.

Vice President Bill Wayland of Shea Properties, the company behind the development of the Maricopa/Casa Grande shopping complex, said the store should be open by January 2010.

“We should have the construction completed by October, and that gives them 90 days to get all of the interior furnishing complete,” he said.

Currently there is a Walgreen’s in Maricopa, employing 30 to 35 people. The new location will be similar in size.

Once Walgreen’s is completed, Wayland said the next project at the center, hopefully, would be Home Depot. However, he would not speculate on any details about the home improvement store.

Walgreen’s representatives could not be reached for comment.
