Woman wakes up to missing roommate, car

A woman woke up Friday morning to discover roommate disappeared — and so did her car.

Maricopa police arrested 30-year-old Victor Carrera later that day when they found him loading his children into the missing car at another home.

The woman called 9-1-1 around 9:50 a.m. and told cops she was letting Carrera couch surf at her house for a little while.

It took cops less than an hour to locate the stolen car after a GPS device showed it was parked at a home on West Camino De Janos in Glennwilde.

Police showed up at the Glennwilde home and saw the woman’s vehicle backed into the driveway. Officers saw Carrera load his kids into the stolen vehicle before he allegedly hopped into the driver’s seat.

Cops were quick to park a police cruiser in front of the driveway and block Carrera in. They removed him from the driver’s seat and placed him under arrest at about 10:40 a.m.

Carrera was booked into Pinal County jail on auto theft charges and faces three and a half years behind bars.
