Yvette Lincoln won second place in the 2014 InMaricopa.com Mother of the Year contest presented by K’Bella Salon and Day Spa and UltraStar Multi-tainment Center. Lincoln received the second-most votes from InMaricopa.com readers and won a hair makeover, makeup application and one-hour massage from K’Bella.

Yvette is the mother of five: Mathew, 20; Jeshuah, 16; Nicholas, 11; Devin, 10; and Talia, 3.

“Yvette is an extraordinary mother, whose compassion and love extends beyond her own family,” her friend Shauna Perez wrote in her nomination. “She birthed three of her own children, adopted two, one with special needs, and is in the process of adopting another teenager.”

Yvette is an administrative assistant for the youth ministries at Church of Celebration. Her husband Matt is the youth pastor.

Yvette is also a photographer, she said.

“Over the years, the (couple) has taken in and cared for many other children that were in need of help,” Perez said.

Yvette said she had no idea she was being nominated.

“It’s very humbling,” she said. “Anyone in my position as a mom can win this award because of what we do as mothers on a daily basis, so I don’t set myself apart from the rest of the moms.”
