Maricopa Unified School District informed parents Monday a high school student tested positive for COVID-19.

Though classes are being conducted online, some student-athletes are preparing for the fall season. While the name of the individual was not released, the football and wrestling teams and coaches were instructed to quarantine.

MUSD said students and staff who may have been in close contact with the individual have been notified.

“If you were not directly contacted prior to receiving this notification, then you and/or your student were not part of the defined group with possible exposure,” the announcement stated.

MUSD said areas on campus that may have been visited by the student were closed off or disinfected.
