MUSD vote swings back in favor of Jordan

Pinal County Election Department is counting about 500 early ballots and an additional 1,800-1,900 provisional ballots from the Nov. 3 General Election.

While playing a small part in the neck-and-neck Arizona vote count for president, the ongoing tabulation has been a rollercoaster for two Maricopa candidates.

Vying for the final seat on the Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board, incumbent Jim Jordan and challenger Tracie Armstead-Payton watched the pendulum swing back toward Jordan during the weekend.

Jordan now has a 15-vote advantage, according to unofficial tallies.

Incumbents Torri Anderson and AnnaMarie Knorr remain the distant front-runners for two of the three available seats. The count also shows 315 people decided to write in a candidate instead.

In the race for a seat on Maricopa City Council, Amber Liermann has maintained an 11% margin over Andre LaFond.

In the contest for Pinal County supervisor for District 4, Republican Jeffrey McClure leads Independent Marlene Pearce, 57% to 43%.

Six of Maricopa’s 10 precincts favored President-elect Joe Biden, according to the current count, though only by 34 votes in the Santa Rosa precinct. Statewide, Biden leads President Trump by 17,000 votes, though Pinal County went for Trump 58% to 40%.

Pinal County expects to report another update this afternoon.
