Man accused of burglarizing Tortosa home

A man accused of burglarizing a Tortosa home on Friday morning was arrested and booked into Pinal County jail, Maricopa police said. 

Channing K. White, 34, is suspected of second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass, criminal damage and disorderly conduct, according to Maricopa police and Pinal County online jail records. 

At 12:06 a.m. on Feb. 24, Maricopa police were called to a home on West Catalan Street on a report of a suspicious person. 

When officers arrived, they reported hearing a commotion and glass shattering from the backyard. They saw a glass sliding door had been shattered by a paver.  

A person at the home told officers a male wearing a red shirt and khaki pants had knocked on the door. The man was later identified as White. The person told dispatch the man had jumped the fence into the backyard. 

The person told officers they did not know White. According to a probable-cause statement, officers found White upstairs in a bedroom. He was placed in handcuffs and escorted to a police vehicle and booked into jail.
