Will you vote for president next November?
In a poll of 800 InMaricopa readers last week, 2 in 5 said they won’t head to the polls.
InMaricopa asked its readers who they think will win the Republican presidential primary in Maricopa and likely — but not certainly — face off against incumbent President Joe Biden.
About a quarter of respondents predict former President Donald J. Trump will take the city’s Republican vote.
The second-favorite politician was former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who collected 14% of votes.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (4%), Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (3%), Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (2%) and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (2%)
Pharmaceuticals entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, the youngest of the candidates, claimed 1% of votes.
Six percent of Maricopans plan to vote but are undecided.
But 40% said they won’t vote at all. That’s more than double the national average.
According to a recent Public Religion Research Institute study, 9% of voters in the U.S. said they’re not likely to vote. Another 13% of voters said they are definitely not voting.
InMaricopa’s poll deviates from national surveys; three McLaughlin & Associates polls today put DeSantis or Haley as runner-up after Trump.
