Flicks for Food, held Saturday at the Glennwilde soccer field, raised over $3,000 plus 1,900 donated food items for the F.O.R. Maricopa food bank.

The family entertainment evening featured a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and hot dogs, as well as the movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” Families and friends enjoyed the feature, shown on a 50-foot screen, from blankets or lawn chairs.

Sponsors for the event were Orbitel Communications, H & N Landscape, DLC Resources Landscape Management, Securitas, Meritage Homes, Right Away Disposal, the city of Maricopa and Starlight Silverscreen.

Meritage Homes, Maricopa Eye Care, The Duke, Southern Dunes, Johnson Ranch Golf Course, Kommercial Painting, Tot Lot Services, Maricopa Mountain Plumbing, Maricopa Storage and Green Pro Landscape donated items for the silent auction.

H & N Landscape donated the hot dogs, bratwurst, cotton candy and popcorn while DLC Resources Landscape Management cooked and donated hot dogs. The donated food generated financial contributions from moviegoers. Brooklyn Boys donated gift cards as second prize for the 50/50 raffle.  DLC and Centex also donated funds for the food bank.

“As the local organizer from our East Valley Office team with AAM, LLC, I personally want to thank all the Maricopa residents and volunteers who made this event a success by making such an impact with their donations to benefit F.O.R. Maricopa,” said Pam Hilliard, AAM area manager.

“We challenge all Maricopa residents to continue to support our local food bank. Maricopa steps up for Maricopa residents in need.”
