Editor’s note: The headline was changed to reflect that the firefight, not the fire, was “aggressive.”

A kitchen fire in Desert Passage this morning prompted a swift response from Maricopa emergency services.

The house fire erupted on Helen Court late this morning. It was an “aggressive” firefight, city spokesperson Quinn Konold said, but it’s now under control.

Fire investigators continue to collect information at the scene.

One person was assessed at the home and treated for possible smoke and burn injuries, Konold said. The patient refused transport to the hospital.

No firefighters were injured.

The road is closed between Sands Drive and North Alicia Court.

InMaricopa will provide further updates as they become available.
