Aspiring dancers get story plus ballet lessons

On Saturday, June 20, Secondhand Pages hosted an ‘Angelina Ballerina’ story time event.

Aspiring dancers were treated to a story about Angelina, the fictional mouse ballerina. Angelina is the subject of a series of children’s books by Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig. Several of those books were on sale at the event.

Following the story, the would-be ballerinas learned some ballet steps, including the five ballet positions, courtesy of Miss Julie from Desert Sun Performing Arts, who has been dancing for 25 years.

The success of the event was measured by the enthusiasm of the young readers and dancers, who seemed to like the story and the lessons equally as well.
