A one-vehicle crash late Tuesday night near a fast-food restaurant on North John Wayne Parkway was the culmination of a DPS trooper pursuit that began 2 miles north on southbound State Route 347 after officers observed errant behavior by the driver, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

At 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, DPS troopers attempted to stop the car driven by Emmanuel Mejia-Martinez of Mesa after observing reckless driving and failing to maintain its lane. At that point, the driver drove away at speeds over 100 mph, the DPS official said.
