Kimball ‘insulted’ by Price’s comments

Having recently read mayoral candidate Christian Price’s recent opinion piece widely published in Maricopa, I am not only insulted but wonder if Mr. Price is as well-informed and open minded as he would like us to believe. What I read between the lines is dubious early campaign spin —the first volley of the mud slinging — from someone who may actually be looking in a mirror and unsure of the character he sees there.

In that article, he all but called me and several other current council members and council hopefuls back alley cronies. He all but alleges we have already agreed to surrender your voice with a wink and nod or “handshakes” while making gangland-type decisions at backyard barbecues while smoking cigars and scheming about how to not only compromise our own integrity for personal gain but our values as well.

One must ask why someone, like Mr. Price, running for a completely different office, would even dare to insult my integrity without any cause. Perhaps it was the views expressed by me and other individuals of proven integrity and lofty moral fiber that we wish to foster synchronization rather than discord among our current city government members and citizens at all levels.

Would it not be nice to have a clean election with no backstabbing, mudslinging with only the candidates’ platforms and the issues to decide?

Although no one stands alone, I am my own man, making my own decisions based on focused reviews of all aspects of issues set before me. Be they fiscal, intrinsic, or external, I make my own decisions. I am not a jaded politician. I have never been a politician. I am running for office to make a difference in our community, not to join a gang. I make my own decisions by listening to everyone; friend, opposition member, and community members alike, then looking at the facts that support each point of view. And I have never “taken the path of least resistance,” as implied by Mr. Price. My Marine Corps service and my rise from stock boy to business owner should speak to that suspicious claim.
