The unofficial results are in, and Maricopa has elected two new faces to serve on the City Council.

Roughly 9 percent of 12,741 registered voters selected Marvin L. Brown and Carl Diedrich to replace incumbents Will Dunn and Kelly Haddad with 1,177 votes cast at the polls.

Here is a breakdown of the votes:

    Marvin L. Brown – 660
    Carl Diedrich – 559
    Will Dunn – 442
    Kelly Haddad – 428

In addition to being new to the Council, both Councilmen elect are relative newcomers to the area. Brown moved to Maricopa in 2006. Diedrich has lived in the area for four years.

Both winning candidates named economic development among their top priorities and a version of what each said they consider to be good government.

    Candidate responses are pending.
