With exponential population growth in Pinal County — especially in Maricopa and San Tan Valley — bringing an influx of new businesses and expanding industry, Central Arizona College extended the role and reach of our Workforce and Economic Development programs to help serve the growing needs.

These programs include Workforce Development, Continuing and Community Education, Small Business Development Center, Adult Basic Education (GED/ESL) and ARIZONA@WORK.

The primary focus of CAC’s Workforce Development is to cultivate strong industry partnerships and build training programs to equip students with the necessary skills and certifications to successfully enter the job market. CAC’s Skilled Trades program currently offers hands-on experience and technical knowledge essential for careers in welding, diesel technology, heavy equipment operations and commercial electrical installation. Health-related offerings like nursing, allied health, EMT/paramedic and fire technologies are also critical focuses of CAC’s Workforce Development program.

“CAC is excited to expand partnerships with local and national employers,” Andrew Clegg, Executive Director of Career and Workforce Training at CAC. “We know that employers benefit by having a highly skilled workforce right in their own community. And students benefit because they know that they can step into a great career and start earning on day one.”

For community members who have a personal growth or niche hobby interest, CAC’s Continuing Education and Community Education non-credit course offerings are expanding rapidly. Continuing Education at CAC offers courses such as CPR certification, firearms training, K-12 professional develop-ment and law enforcement professional development. While Community Education is expanding with new dance and fitness offerings, a popular drone pilot workshop, chess workshops and much more to come.

CAC’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers advising, training and resources for businesses throughout Pinal County. All services provided to SBDC clients are free and completely confidential. For anyone considering starting a small business, the CAC SBDC is an excellent place to start or to seek support along the path to successful entrepreneurship.

CAC is a proud partner of ARIZONA@WORK Pinal County, which offers free HSE/GED (High School Equivalency) and ESL/ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes, as well as the ARIZONA@WORK Pinal County Youth Program focused on individualized assistance for youth aged 16-24 who either did not complete high school or low-income graduates not currently enrolled in a college or training program.

As Pinal County’s community college, Central Arizona College is committed to helping both individuals and businesses prosper, grow and thrive. #WeAreCAC
