Capitalism and hard work is the solution

Capitalism and hard work will solve our problems if government will get out of the way of our citizens.

We heard from the hard working citizens of Maricopa on the “Global Water” night. I am so very proud of everyone who attended. Your comments and presence were very impressive. Our citizens are competent and intelligent. You are the reason America is great. Thank you for being who you are. You are terrific!

Here we go again. Pinal County taxes have just kicked in, and our families are facing larger monthly house payments. Our utility companies and Pinal County taxes are taking their toll on the citizens of Maricopa. When can we expect an end to the invasion of our pocketbooks?

Our state and county leaders believe that we need more and more government to protect us. I believe that we need less government to stay out of the lives of the people, not more government. The smaller government becomes in this down economy, the sooner we will be able to return to prosperity. Economic forces are going to dictate that this is going to happen. For this I am grateful!

Our friends and neighbors are losing their jobs and their homes. There appears to be no end in sight to government’s greed.

Capitalism and the free enterprise system have made America great. It has been stated that nothing happens until someone sells something. Working hard and making a profit is a good thing. Why?

A business that makes a profit this month and again next month and continues through the years pays taxes. As the profit goes up, the tax revenues increase. As the profit increases, employees are hired, the business makes more profit and the employees’ wages increase. Guess what? The businesses pay more taxes.

These workers who are getting paid go into the community and spend the money they make. Other businesses make money and grow and prosper, and their businesses grow and prosper. And they pay taxes. The tax base then grows exponentially. The county, state and federal deficit goes down if government stops spending. Folks, that is why America has been great!

Compare that to our city, county, state and federal government. They are an expense to the small business community and to the people. They make nothing. They sell nothing. They build buildings and increase their expenses and constantly need more money to survive.

The recent stimulus money went to government to keep employees employed, to bailout state and county debt, etc., etc. The money for this stimulus was a short-term solution that failed miserably and left our nation further in debt. Our leaders in Washington do not understand that government does not generate a profit. That is a problem.

In recent years government has been unable to control their spending and are now deep in debt. They have taxed the people and businesses in every way possible. They have enacted unjust statutes and laws to make it legal to rob the citizens and businesses.

Proposition 13 must be passed to put a stop to the taxes and out of control spending of county government in Arizona.

Our parents and their parents taught some of us to work hard. Hard work is a terrific solution to our problems. Sadly many people in government want to give us a free pass through life that takes away our independence and self-respect.

May I suggest that American ingenuity and hard work are the solutions to our current economic situation. We must think out of the box and create new businesses that will make a profit and pay taxes. We have a right to own a business and make a profit. We have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Further I believe that when utility companies and government tax us heavily we do not have the “seed” money to start and keep our businesses on a sound financial footing. These rates are stupid. Yes. They are stupid!

Government should grow after businesses are making a profit and paying taxes.

I am talking about the small and medium-sized business in particular. I am not talking about the large Wall Street businesses who have proven to be as corrupt as our government itself.

Our schools need to teach capitalism and the benefits of the free enterprise system to our students. It is very apparent to this writer that our school system does not have a clue as to what I am talking about. This message is meant to be read by our political leaders with a prayer that they will start to understand what they are doing to the city of Maricopa, our state and the wonderful United States of America.

The future lies in the hands of our hardworking men, women and families. The power does NOT lie in the hand of our leaders. The power lies in the voices of the people expressing their desires.

To the people who attended the Global Water meeting, you are beautiful. Please keep your eye on our city, county, state, country leaders. Vote only for the people who are honest and believe in hard work, honesty, democracy and God.
