The Casa Grande Regional Medical Center Foundation was awarded a $3,000 grant from Fry’s Food Stores through the Giving Hope A Hand campaign. The grant will support CGRMC’s free mammogram program for uninsured and underinsured women.

The mammogram program is based at Desert Reflections Imaging Center. Women are referred to the program by local physicians and the Stanfield Free Clinic. The program’s goal is early detection of breast cancer.

“We are so thankful for Fry’s support of our free mammogram program,:” said Bill Angel, director of Desert Reflections Imaging Center. “One in nine women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The women who will be seen through this program do not have the resources to be screened on their own, so we know this program makes a major difference in women obtaining this service and assists with early detection of breast cancer.”

To meet the criteria for the mammogram program, women must be 40 years or older and have no medical insurance. In addition, women with deductibles over $500 may be eligible for this service. Desert Reflections Imaging Center provides digital mammography and breast ultrasounds, as well as stereotactic breast biopsy for women who need additional tests.
