Chamber of Commerce elects new president

Just as people resolve to make changes for a new year, the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce elects a new leadership team to direct its goals and objectives for that year.

This year the chamber elected Bill Wasowicz, a nearly three-year member of the board, to fill the president’s spot vacated by Mark Molus.

Molus, who felt he no longer had the time to fill the position of president, said he wishes the new president the best of luck. Molus will remain a member of the chamber board.

The newly elected president said he is looking forward to the challenges his new position will present. “Our executive director has done a great job building up the membership of the chamber, but we must continue to grow and expand,” Wasowicz said.

Wasowicz’s goals for the chamber this year include working with the city to help stimulate and promote local business and increasing the benefits and value of chamber membership.

“We are in a crucial point in Maricopa’s future, and the actions we take over the next couple of years will determine if Maricopa remains just a bedroom community or transforms into a vibrant self-sufficient city,” Wasowicz said.

Other officers elected by the board are:

Keith Kirkman – Vice President
Anthony Snider – Secretary
Sheriolyn Curry – Treasurer
