The Maricopa Chamber of Commerce is on its way to becoming the official visitor center for Maricopa.

The business-promoting organization has acted as an unofficial visitor center in the past and is now finishing up the last of the paperwork to become state recognized.

“We have completed the requirements set forth by the state, have filed our paperwork and are awaiting a state inspection,” said Executive Chamber Director Terri Kingery.

Once approved as an official visitor center, several doors will open for the Maricopa Chamber. “We will be a able to apply for grants for signage, infrastructure and promotion,” Kingery said.

Kingery added that, by becoming a visitor center, Maricopa will be promoted statewide, and the chamber will be able to attract future residents.

Kingery estimates the chamber will receive its official status within the next two months.
