City Council looks at various community issues on Tuesday night

When Maricopa’s City Council meets for both a work session and a regular meeting Tuesday evening, members will be looking at ongoing community issues. The city’s participation in a regional transportation study is on the agenda, as well as the North Santa Cruz Wash Regional Flood Control Solution, a site plan review for the new Maricopa Wells Junior High School and a report to be prepared on the SR 347 grade separation. Public hearings on two annexations will be held. Agendas for both sessions follow:

4.1 LiquorLicense Application: Taco Del Mar. Consideration of recommendation to the Arizona State Liquor Board for a Liquor Store License application submitted by Kim Hoffman, on behalf of Taco Del Mar, located at 21101 N. John Wayne Pkwy, Suite E-105, Maricopa, AZ 85239. Discussion.

4.2 Resolution 06-12. A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Pinal County, Arizona declaring support to develop a regional transportation plan and designating an initial contact person to act on the City’s behalf in identifying regionally significant routes for Pinal County. Discussion.

4.3 Contract for Engineering/Architectural Services. The City Council shall discuss a request filed by Grants Coordinator Mary Eick to approve the contract with Oracle Engineering and fee estimate for street and drainage improvements for the CDBG project FY 2005. Discussion.

4.4 SPR 05.22. ADM Group, Inc. is requesting site plan review for the proposed Maricopa Wells Junior High School located at the southeast corner of Honeycutt Avenue and Hogenes Boulevard within the incorporated limits of the City of Maricopa. This proposal includes a Junior High School Site Plan and Elevations. The Site Plan Review encompasses 84, 044 sq gt of building space on 23.53 acres of land within the incorporated limits of the City of Maricopa. The property is currently vacant and was re-zoned by Pinal County on May 7, 2003 to CR-3 PAD under the Maricopa Meadows Planned Area. Discussion.

4.5 North Santa Cruz Wash Regional Flood Control Solution. The City Council shall discuss relative to continuance of plan review and permitting activity for members of the North Santa Cruz Wash Regional Flood Control Solution. Discussion.

4.6 SR347 Grade Separation Contract. Council decision request filed by Public Works Director Robert Jackson and Finance Director Roger Kolman to approve a contract with HDR Engineering, Inc. for services related to the preparation of a feasibility report and environmental review of the SR 347 grade separation. Discussion.

4.7 Payment of Claims. The City Council shall discuss payment of claims for the City. Discussion.

4.1 PAD 05.12 and ZON 05.11. To receive public comment relative to Maracay Homes is requesting an application for approval of
the development and rezoning of approximately 326.43 acres, known as Daltessa Heights to be established as a residential
Planned area Development (PAD) located at the northwest corner of White & Parker and Peters & Nall Roads, adjacent to the Ak-
Chin Indian reservation. This development consists of 950 lots and is intended to be primarily residential with (1) one commercial
parcel and recreation/ open space. The applicant is requesting to rezone this property from its original zoning designation of “GR”
(general rural), to PAD rezone this property from it’s original zoning designation of “GR” (general rural) to PAD “CR-3”, “CR-4”
(single family residential) and CB-2 (general commercial).

4.2 Annexation 06-01. 5.8 Special Event Permit: Stagecoach Days. The City Council shall discuss a request by Mayor Anderson, on behalf of the Rotary Club, to hold an event, Stagecoach Days, to be held at the Duke Golf Course and Sonny Dunn’s Barn on April 22, 2006. The Golf Tournament and Barn Dance is sponsored by the Maricopa Rotary Club to raise funds for the operation and maintenance of the community pool. Discussion & Action.

5.9 Ordinance 06-05. An Ordinance of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, zoning certain property described in Zoning Case ZON 05.11 and PAD 05.12 for the development of approximately 326.43 acres, generally located at the northwest corner of White & Parker and Peters & Nall Roads, adjacent to the Ak-Chin Indian reservation. The parcels of land are situated in the east half and the east 229.26 feet of the south 950.00 feet of the west half, and that portion of the southeast quarter of section 12, township 5 south, range 3 east of the Gila and Salt River Base and Meridian, Pinal County, Arizona. Discussion & Action.

5.10 PRL Advisory Committee. The City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on a request filed by PRL Director McDonald on behalf of the PRL Advisory Committee to name two applicants to fill vacated slots on the PRL Advisory Committee. Discussion & Action.

The procedures to follow if you address the Council are: Council requests that you express your ideas in five minutes or less and refrain from any personal attacks or derogatory statements about any City employee, a fellow citizen, or anyone else, whether in the audience or not. The Mayor will limit discussion whenever he deems such an action appropriate to the proper conduct of the meeting. At the conclusion of an open call to the public, individual members of the Council may respond to criticism made by those who have addressed the Council, may ask Staff to review a matter, or may ask that a matter be put on a future agenda. However, members of the Council shall not discuss or take legal action on any matters during an open call to the public unless the matters are properly noticed for discussion and legal action.
