Maricopa’s City Council will meet Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. for a work session to hear a report on water quality in Maricopa from representatives of the Santa Cruz Water Company.

The Council’s regular meeting at 7 p.m., also at the Global Water facility, will include a public hearing regarding the approval of a zoning amendment to the Avalea Master Planned Development.

Members of the council will be asked to approve applications for the FM Global Fire Prevention Grant, the Polaris Ranger Donation Program and the Safe Routes to School Grant.

An expenditure of $42,000 for laptop and desktop computers for city staffers will also be up for approval.

Both Cactus Springs and Desert Gardens will be asking for minor amendments to the City of Maricopa General Plan.

Council appointments scheduled for this meeting include: a five-month term replacement for Councilman Stephen Baker, who has moved out of town, as well as a possible three new appointees for both the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Parks, Recreation and Libraries Committee.

An update on the progress of the proposed annexation by the Planning Department is also included on the regular agenda.

Council may act to either cancel or reschedule the Jan. 1 regularly scheduled council meeting.
