The city of Maricopa is now using a communications service that allows the fire and police departments to send important, valuable community information directly to residents using the latest technology.

The Nixle Community Information Service allows the City to create and publish messages to be delivered to subscribed residents instantly via cell phone text message and/or email. Notifications can also be accessed online at Nixle’s web site at www.nixle.com.

Residents have the choice to sign up for subscriptions to the fire department notifications (fires, major medical calls and significant car accidents) the police department (amber alerts, significant law enforcement activity, wanted individuals, traffic) and the city (updates on significant events throughout Maricopa).

“During emergencies, communicating information to the community is a priority,” said City Manager Brenda Fischer. “This new system is a great tool for distributing vital information as it happens.”
