City seeks input on improving leisure opportunities

The city of Maricopa will host an open workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Global Water Facility to seek public input on how to improve parks, recreation and leisure opportunities.

The workshops, a city report states, will pose four basic questions:
1. What parks and recreation facilities would you like to see in Maricopa?
2. What activities do you or a member of your family participate in or plan to participate in?
3. What type of park do you prefer in your neighborhood?
4. How would you vote on funding measures for parks and recreation facilities?

“Your answers to these questions will provide the framework and the priorities for the proposed improvements to the parks and recreation system,” said Marty McDonald, whose duties include overseeing Parks, Recreation and Libraries. “The City would like the master plan to reflect the desires and needs of the citizens of Maricopa. Therefore, your responses to these questions are very important.

“The input provided by our residents throughout this process will give the city a guide in planning for future parks and recreation facilities,” McDonald said. “It will provide the foundation for how we develop open space for the next five to 10 years.”
