Grab your lawn chair and head out to Pacana Park for the city of Maricopa’s ’80s in ’08 Movies in the Park.

The movies are free and will begin at dusk. Vendors will be on-hand selling beverages and light snacks.

In addition, the city’s Community Services Department has partnered with the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce to produce pre-movie mini-events.

On May 3, children, ages 6-12, can participate in ‘capture the flag’ before settling in to watch “Raiders of the Lost Arc.” On June 7, children will be able to participate in a Sail Boat Regatta at the Pacana Park Lake before the showing of “One Crazy Summer;” and, on June 14, everyone will have the opportunity to do their best “Footloose” impression before the legendary Kevin Bacon movie hits the screen.

The movies in the park series will end on Sept. 13 with the largest ’80s party in the history of Maricopa. The event will feature zany contests, including biggest bangs, best dance moves, best-dressed and more.
