Residents affected by an outage in the Hacienda Acres water system will have Pinal County support until a permanent solution becomes available, Vice Chairman David Snider said Thursday. Hacienda Acres is at the end of Miller Rd. in the Hidden Valley area.

“We take the health and well-being of our residents seriously,” the Vice Chairman said from his Casa Grande office. “We will provide any and all support that we are able to until this issue is resolved.”

The District 3 Supervisor said Pinal County Emergency Management is working with the Red Cross and other agencies to provide bottled water during the outage.

The Arizona Corporation Commission recently denied the Hacienda Acres water system a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CC&N) based on non-compliance issues. Global Water was issued the CC&N for the area.

An assessment made by Global Water and the Arizona Corporation Commission found that three meters were removed from the system along with damage caused to a well and pump. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case and is providing a temporary security detail for the system.

“I am pleased to see Global Water is providing a 2000-gallon potable water tank for the residents,” the Vice Chairman said. “They are providing a water tank to make sure the livestock are taken care of as well.”

Vice Chairman Snider also added that Global Water engineers are currently designing a temporary booster station to deliver water from the existing water tank.

“Their goal is to have the temporary system up and running by next week,” Snider said.

Approximately 35 families are served by the water system in the Hacienda Acres area.

Many of those families own horse properties. Lack of water makes horses especially vulnerable to heat stroke and colic, conditions that can result in death to the animals. The most important elements for helping animals endure the heat is shade, but water is of the greatest importance.
