Eye doctor sees opportunity in Maricopa

Dr. Kelly Lawrence, optometrist, is looking forward to serving families in Maricopa at her new office at 21101 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite E102.

Lawrence opened the office Tuesday and said she already is enjoying it.

“We had a couple of patients today and it went well,” Lawrence said.

The office features a selection of glasses, two exam rooms and an area for new contacts wearers to practice putting their lenses on and taking them off.

Lawrence also is offering evening hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays and walk-ins.

A former first-grade teacher, Lawrence said she knew she wanted to work in the medical field and wanted “to serve young families.”

Maricopa seemed to be the perfect place for Lawrence: “I just felt the area was underserved.”

Coming from a South Dakota, Lawrence said she also enjoyed the sense of community and small-town feel of the city.

Lawrence earned her optometry doctorate at Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon.
