A victim whose condition has not yet been released was hit by a train late Thursday, Maricopa Police confirmed today.

The accident, which occurred after dark, stopped traffic on North John Wayne Parkway while Maricopa Police used flashlights to search under the train.

Sgt. Stephen Judd, a spokesman for Maricopa Police, said further details would be forthcoming sometime Friday morning.

The accident is the second this year involving an individual coming in contact with a train traveling through Maricopa.

In the previous incident, Clorinda Gwen Justin was taken to Maricopa County Medical Center in late January where she underwent several weeks of treatment for injuries including multiple fractures before being released (see Train accident victim airlifted from Maricopa, and “Train victim upgraded to stable”). Justin had been walking near the tracks while intoxicated, Maricopa Police said.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
