Domestic violence suspect arrested at gunpoint; causes traffic to snarl

    Maricopa Police arrested and detained a male, whose age was not immediately available, on charges of domestic violence shortly after 4 p.m. today in a felony traffic stop which backed up traffic for more than 20 minutes on Northbound State Route 347, police said.

    “Somebody was supposedly leaving a domestic violence situation,” said Officer Stephen Judd, a spokesman for the Maricopa Police Department. “Officers got an indication from the reporting party that they had a gun in the vehicle.”

    Judd added they they “Got him out at gunpoint, and had caught him in the back seat of the vehicle.”

    Judd said additional information would be available shortly once he interviews the officers who took the call from the alleged victim.
