Dancers, musicians perform ‘Nutcracker’ excerpts

Toy soldiers come alive and sparkling snowflakes dance along with marzipan candies and a ballerina doll in the holiday tradition of "The Nutcracker."

DSPA Gems, Inc. is proud to sponsor the Third Annual Sugar Plum Tea. Come watch Arabian, Chinese and Spanish dancers, accompanied by an on-stage chamber orchestra, take the stage 2 p.m., Dec. 8 at the Maricopa High School Performing Arts Center.

The Pearl ballet dancers will perform 13 excerpts from The Nutcracker, with live musical accompaniment performed by the Maricopa Music Circle orchestra.

Tickets are available for purchase at www.BrownPaperTickets.com for $10 each until Dec. 5, then will be on sale at the door for $15.

During intermission, the audience will be treated to complimentary refreshments.

DSPA Gems, Inc., a nonprofit organization established in 2009 to support the performing arts in Maricopa, also will have an auction of specially Sugar Plum scented gift baskets and Sugar Plum tutus and wands will be for sale.
