Another day, another dust storm

If “Haboob,” the dust storm that hammered us on July 5 was a monster from a Japanese horror movie, then the one that blew through Maricopa today could be called “Son of Haboob.”

Around 5 p.m., Maricopans witnessed a scene still fresh in our memories as another wind storm raced across the dusty desert. Though it did reduce visibility for several minutes, today’s storm seemed shorter lived and less intense than the one two weeks ago.

According to Channel 15 in Phoenix, a huge wall of dust rolled into Phoenix and reduced visibility to nearly zero. Thunderstorms were reported near Coolidge, producing problems with visibility in that city, the TV station reported.
