The Pinal Partnership has announced that Sandie Smith, former Supervisor for Pinal County District 2, will serve as their Chief Executive Officer and President.

“Pinal Partnership couldn’t be more proud to have someone like Supervisor Smith leading us into our next chapter,” said current President Jordan Rose, one of the founding members of Pinal Partnership. “I can’t think of anyone who understands the challenges and the potential of Pinal County better than her.”

Pinal Partnership is an organization comprised of elected officials and business leaders focused on planning and enhancing the future of Pinal County. Pinal Partnership was formed in 2005 to deal with the unique challenges facing the fastest-growing county in Arizona.

Smith, who was the first woman to be elected to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors, retired from public office when her term expired this month. She served as a supervisor for 16 years and is a 39-year resident of Pinal County. She was a small business owner for two decades.

“We are turning the potential of Pinal County into wonderful new realities for our citizens and businesses. Pinal Partnership is, and will be, a critical player in even more advances,” said Smith.

Elected in 1986 to the governing board of the Apache Junction Unified School District, Smith served as president from 1988-93. As a member of the Arizona Association of Counties, she has served in all office capacities including president and served as a member of the County Supervisors Association.

Smith’s committee involvement includes serving as past president of the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce Board, chairperson of the North Eastern Pinal Economic Partnership (NEPEP), chairperson of the Enterprise Zone Commission and a member of the CAC Foundation Board of Directors. She has served on the Pinal County Arizona Planning Committee for Economic Development and the San Tan Regional Park Committee, the Superstition Vista’s Steering Committee, the Pinal County Town Hall Committee and Empowerment Systems Incorporated.

She is a past member of the Arizona Corporation Commission’s Line Siting Committee and a past committee member of the Focus Future Team in Florence. She also served on the Military Affairs Commission for the State of Arizona and is an organizing member of the Apache Junction Boys and Girls Club and a member of the Apache Junction Soroptimists.

Smith and her husband, Thomas, have been married for 47 years and have three children and six grandchildren.
