Glimpse inside MPD Substation (video)

Maricopa Police Chief Steve Stahl offered a limited view inside the unfinished substation at Copper Sky during his Coffee with the Chief presentation Saturday morning.

Attendees saw the main entry and the training room.

A ribbon-cutting for the substation is planned for March 29, and it is expected to be fully operational with its own dispatch services in May.

The theme of the monthly Coffee with the Chief was the use of social media. By coincidence, the presentation came days after a fight at Copper Sky’s skate park that involved one person being slashed with a pocket knife evolve on social media into high drama.

Stahl said that while Facebook, Twitter and other media are helpful in quickly informing the public, too often the earliest information is inaccurate.
