Global Water rates (in my opinion)

390

The residents of Maricopa have now been waiting for some time to get a ruling on the garbage that Global Water has been trying to feed us. As we wait I see stories run about how some law judge is going to make a decision on how they will or will not apply the ICFA’s against what Global Water wants to charge us. But as I read story after story, it seems like the decision has been made for us.

Please check out this statement I copied from the article at InMaricopa.com:
“Global Water is asking for an increase that would raise the average monthly bill in Maricopa over a three-year time span from roughly $76 to $122. RUCO and Corporation Commission staffs are recommending an increase that would see the average monthly bill inflate to about $100 in three years.”

To me, it sounds like no matter how much we kick and scream about this and how bad the economy is hurting, each and every American family will get some rate increase shoved down our collective throats. Please let me know if I am wrong about this.

To me, the show the ACC put on way back when was just that, a show. We all (myself included) went up to the mike and stated our piece in hopes that it didn’t fall on deaf ears. And still, by the looks of things, we will be getting the dirty end of the stick once again.

With that said, let me move onto something else related to this thing.

The aquatic park the mayor wants. First off I think our 20 million dollars that he and the clown council now have their hands on should not be spent making a monument to Global Water. Where do you all think the water will come from? I don’t think it will be rainwater collected from the recent storms.

And when the pools have to be refilled, who do you think in the long run will have to pay via our tax money? Global Water? The Mayor himself? Nope, it will be us, and as our property values continue to fall even more, do you think you can afford something like that?

Remember, I called it as I saw it the night we all spoke out about the increase. You can’t separate the mayor from Global Water no matter how hard you try. I have only been here two years, but, man, do I see the old-boy network running the town. I don’t want you all to think the mayor is the only one to blame here. Also the ones who should be taken to task on this are the ones who own the fountains in Rancho El Dorado. Do you think that water just appears out of nowhere?

We all have to be in this together if we want to get anything done around here.

Just my opinion, and I am entitled to it.
