Two Maricopa Democrats will be delegates at the Democratic National Convention Sept. 3-7 in Charlotte, N.C.

Henry Wade, candidate for Pinal County Supervisor District 4 and organizer of the Copa City Dems, and Marquisah Griffin, former Maricopa city councilwoman and vice chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party, are among the eight Democrats from Pinal County nominating the party’s candidate for president.

Though both have been active for years in the Democratic Party, this is the first time Wade and Griffin have been selected as national delegates.
“I’m excited. This is a great honor to be selected by my peers and represent the state of Arizona to select President Obama as our president once again,” said Wade, who is an affirmative action moderator for the party at both the county and state levels.

Griffin, who had worked as an intern in the U.S. Congress, said, “I don’t know words to describe it. It is one of greatest highlights of life. I am elated.”

Griffin finished her term on the Maricopa City Council June 5.
