Henry Wade: Represent us all

512

Dear elected leaders of Maricopa and Arizona State Legislative District 11, I thank all three of you very much for a lively debate and spirited discussion on Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT), Global Water rate increase, the “illegal immigration epidemic,” the Holocaust, Rwanda and the extensive behind-the-scene meetings of our representatives in the House.

There did appear to be a slight hint of over sensitivity. However, what seemed like a simple question from the councilwoman, turned into an excellent civics lesson.

I am hopeful exposure to this exchange is widespread beyond these postings and that our fellow citizens are comforted in the fact we are sufficiently represented. One thing is apparent Rep. Smith, it seems you are no longer burdened with too much work as you expressed during a previous city council meeting I attended.

Since a portion of the legislation you continue to champion is carried over from your days in the Senate, you also appear to be moving forward with a radical agenda supporting an extreme conservative agenda. As was pointed out, your local mentor, Russell Pierce, was dismissed by the citizens of Arizona for doing the same. However, you continue to push legislation to have those same taxpayers reimburse Mr. Pierce for his unprecedented recall.

I found it also interesting for you to state that Americans for Prosperity is a “nonpartisan national organization." Actually, this insults readers of this op-ed, practically when you realize that Dr. Richard Fink, the noted conservative executive vice-president and board of directors member of Kock Industries, played a significant role in AFP’s founding and current operation. If one did not know any better, one would think the distinction of “Champion of the Taxpayer,” actually meant something outside of the halls of this ultra conservative think tank.

Mr. Smith, you are absolutely correct when you stated, “my record clearly shows who I am and what I do.” But I implore you to remember, you represent us all. Please, you are not saving me money when you spend money to see how much money is being spent. By the way, where is the fence and how much money has been raised to build it?
