Hermanson congratulates Smith

Congratulations to Tony Smith on winning the election for mayor.

I have gotten to know Tony over the past few months, and I believe he will make us all proud that he represents our city. Tony and the council will be facing a lot of challenges in the near future. I have all the confidence that our city will grow to become a city we will all be proud of.

I want to also congratulate Marquisha Griffin for winning one of the three Council seats. I wish her all the best in the challenges this city faces these next few years. I also want to congratulate Marvin Brown, Carl Diedrich, Will Dunn, and Kelly Haddad for going to the general election in May. I wish them all the best of luck on their quest for the other two Council seats.

This has been such a rewarding experience for me. I have met a lot of nice people along the way, including all the candidates. When I got into this race, my goal was to bring a new look into the way we look at our city and politics in general. I believe it is time we do the right things for this city, and stop going down the same path all the time. This new City Council and mayor will be facing a lot of challenges moving forward, and I hope that all decisions will be in the best interest of the city, and nothing else. I ran my campaign on “Our Future Starts Now” slogan, and I truly believe these next four years are the most important four years in our city’s development. We cannot afford to make bad decisions.

As I fade into the sunset, I want to thank all my supporters and all that voted for me. This has been a wonderful experience. I may one day run again for office, but for now I go back to my life in sales. I wish all that are elected the best, and pray that all decisions that are made will be in the city’s best interest.

Marty Hermanson was a candidate for City Council.
