Hike Safe: local entrepreneur starts campaign

Arizona Gardens is staging a soft opening on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to give guests a chance to take a look at what its owner says is the safest place to hike in the Maricopa area.

For $5, guests may hike a one-mile trail with desert and mountain scenery and enjoy a presentation and tour of future amenities planned for the site.

T-shirts will be available for purchase, promoting what is expected to one day host a botanical garden, theme-park and water park on hundreds of acres.

In addition, Bush will be offering hikes from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays at the park. Advance reservations are required.

Where: Head south on State Route 347. Take a right at Interstate 84 and travel five miles west to Interstate 8. Take exit 151.
