The Maricopa High School campus has grown considerably over the years. The football players and cheerleaders pictured were among the 28 MHS students — all freshmen — in 1955. Today, enrollment is about 2,400 with a second high school, Desert Sunrise, scheduled to open in July on the east side of town.
