Supervisor candidate: I-11, great news for county

I am thrilled Congress has seen fit to designate I-11 (linking Las Vegas to Phoenix) in the transportation bill last week.

Much effort has gone into this moment since 1985 and it seems although we may be more than 30 years away from seeing this as a reality, at least there is progress. Certainly it would have been wonderful if the designation had come with a level of funding commensurate with the task ahead.

Nonetheless, I agree with others that this is a monumental step forward for Arizona and Pinal County.

Nonprofit organizations such as Connecting Arizona and Nevada, Delivering Opportunities working together with the Pinal County Partnership and board of supervisors help to support the long view for Pinal County’s growth and development.

Of course there must be a comprehensive and transparent approach to such growth supported through strong positive leadership. Furthermore, we should not lose sight of the very important need to directly support small business today. Theirs is the economic engine that will allow our long term projects to be supported and ultimately successful.
