It’s time for a fresh start

Dear Residents of Maricopa and inmaricopa.com users,

First, I would like to thank everyone who made it out to the polls this week to vote. No matter how your ballot was marked, your effort is the single most important civic responsibility you have.

Congratulations to Marvin Brown. Kudos to Tony Smith and Marquisha Griffin, elected at the Primary in March. I look forward to serving with all of these fine individuals as we begin a new chapter in Maricopa’s history.

I would also like to thank Will Dunn and Kelly Haddad for the service and sacrifices they put forward as pioneers of the second stage of Maricopa’s life.

A special thank you goes to Mayor Kelly Anderson for his support and advice as I went through this process. His wisdom and guidance was sincerely appreciated.

Finally, I want to acknowledge Scott Bartle.

On Thursday, Scott found a lost dog and promptly emailed Pet Social Worker. He came by and dropped off a beautiful Akita who has since been reunited with his family. Scott’s willingness to contact us, even with the clear differences of opinion we have had, showed a significant effort to me.

I was home when Scott came over and we had a chance to talk. We were able to set aside our disagreements.

As I support all businesses in Maricopa, it was important for me to come to a resolution with Scott and inmaricopa.com. I do not want anything to stand in my way of fulfilling my responsibilities to the community, its residents, and its business owners.

Some of you may be wondering about the “feud.” Scott and I discussed that, as well, and it has been resolved.

As a councilman, I will now work towards opening up communication with the residents who choose to use any of the outlets in Maricopa. I look forward to re-engaging those who use inmaricopa.com and expect a significant dialogue in the future.

Sincerely,
Carl Diedrich
