Two members of the InMaricopa family lost one of their own last week.

The youngest son of Joyce Hollis, Jeffrey Allen Baer, died in his sleep Friday. Jeff, 39, was born in Kingman and graduated from Lake Havasu High School and Arizona State University.

Joyce acknowledged her countless friends with a Facebook post Sunday: “A truly heartfelt thank you to all of you who have posted condolences on Jeff's passing. He was so loved and will be missed by us and so many friends. Bless you all, Joyce.”

Jeff is survived by his parents Joyce (Ron) Hollis of Maricopa and James (Phyllis) Baer of Lake Havasu City; brother Jason (Alyson) Baer, niece Annika and nephew Ethan of Bloomington, Ind.; stepsister Ami Hollis of Lake Havasu City; uncle Lloyd (Charlene) Meyer of Omaha, Neb.; and three cousins: Cullen (Emily) Meyer, Brent (Abby) Meyer and Lara (Brian) Pefferly, all of Atlanta; and his aunt Jeanne Baer (Victor Lacy) of Lincoln, Neb. Preceding him in death were his grandparents Charles and DeLoris Baer and Allen Max and Florence Meyer all of York, Neb.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mesa at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald St. The family requests scholarship donations be made in his name to ASU's HFHE (Havasu Foundation for Higher Education), 735 Little Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86406.

Dick Barkley’s wife, Andrea, 63, passed away Saturday at La Estancia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chandler.

Andrea, married to Dick 42 years, was originally from Evanston, Ill.

Dick characterized his wife as a very strong woman with an “unbelievably positive outlook on life.” She enjoyed painting, was a voracious reader and loved seeing the wild horses out on the reservation.

She cared about and was warm to everyone, and she devoted her life to Dick and their son, Brian.

“With all the health issues she’s struggled with, she still always had a smile on her face,” Dick said.
