Children from the Be Awesome Youth Coalition pitched their fundraising goals during a presentation at the InMaricopa office Feb. 28.

The kids aim to raise between $1,000 and $5,000 to address various needs at Maricopa Elementary School, including decorating trash cans to reduce litter, addressing art supply shortages and ensuring adequate resources for music programs.

They will hold events like Fun Fridays and Pasta Night engage both students and families while raising their necessary funds.

“They were very proud of themselves,” said Be Awesome Founder and Executive Director Priscilla Behnke. “They saw the skills we have been making them practice are absolute useful.

InMaricopa and the city of Maricopa donated $250 each.
