Voyles: ‘I will lead the charge in supporting victims’

As a prosecutor for nearly 10 years, I found professional and personal fulfillment by taking the most heinous criminals down and supporting victims. My family, with two daughters, is so important to me and I easily empathize with victims and family members of crime.

Just a few months ago, I personally researched approximately 5,000 records of violent offenders in the Pinal County Superior Court. These cases were from the past two years and the records proved that over 61 percent of the most violent felons were released with only probation or no penalty whatsoever.

These were “mandatory prison” cases that received probation or no penalty. The only person who has the authority to give probation on a mandatory prison case is the county attorney.

This is unacceptable since it denies justice to crime victims and empowers the violent criminals.

As your county attorney, I will lead from the front, working as a team with law enforcement. The new standard will require violent mandatory prison defendants will receive prison, instead of being released back out into our neighborhoods. We shall nearly eliminate the rampant drug smuggling violence in Pinal County through tough prosecution.

As your county attorney, I will lead the charge in supporting victims through the administration of justice and securing their restitution while keeping victims well informed.

As county attorney, I shall work tirelessly to hold criminals to account for their crimes with severe consequences. The pursuit of justice is better fulfilled, and victims of crimes are much more willing to come forward, if there are serious consequences for violent crimes. Everyone says they support victims, while the statement rings hollow unless there is action and results.
