Maricopa police arrested a 37-year-old man after a New Year’s Eve dinner took a violent turn. 

Officers responded to a disturbance call in the Sorrento neighborhood around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The caller told dispatch her husband was drunk and hurled wine and hot pizza at the family. 

Police entered the home and found the man, who was identified only as Peter, with a cut on his hand. They also found spilled wine and broken glass on the walls and floors, according to the police report.  

The wife told police Peter started an argument over dinner in front of their children. 

As she carried one of the children upstairs, Peter took a pizza from the oven and threw it at them, hitting both in the face. He also threw a wine bottle and shattered it, according to the police report.  

Peter was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail on domestic violence charges of assault, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
