Mando’s to hold grand opening celebration

Maricopans will have a chance to meet a former NFL player and two former Arena Football League players this Saturday at Mando’s Mexican Food restaurant.

The restaurant, which opened in November, will be hosting an official grand opening party where Speedy Duncan, a former standout cornerback with the San Diego Chargers, will sign autographs, along with two ex-Rattlers, Calvin Schexnayder, the Arena Offensive MVP in 1998, and Mark Tucker.

“It is a chance for us to give back to the community and get the word out,” said Salvador Villanueva, one of the restaurant’s owners.

The other owner is another former Rattler, Herb Duncan, Speedy’s son.

Mando’s will also be offering $1 tacos and possibly put out a bounce house for the children if weather permits.

“It looks like it may rain, so we may hold off on the bounce house,” Villanueva said.
