Maricopa brothers get their ‘wishes’ and more

Two brothers from Maricopa cursed with the same life threatening illness were given the dream of a lifetime Saturday.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Vincent and Keundrea their wish to go on a shopping spree to buy whatever they wanted. The boys were surprised to have a stretch Expedition Limo pick them up instead of the “shuttle” that they were told was coming for them.

They decided to start their shopping spree at Maricopa’s Wal-Mart store where they bought electronic equipment, clothes and weight lifting equipment.

“It didn’t take them long to get it done because Wal-Mart had picked out everything on their wish lists and had it ready for them when they got there. Wal-Mart also donated a $150 gift card to each boy and gave him a discount on his purchases. They were in heaven,” said Make-A-Wish coordinator Diane Morrow.

Then it was on to the Cricket wireless store in Tempe to buy new phones for themselves along with a one-year prepaid contract. The Cricket Communications store on Elliot donated the phones and service to them, which freed up more cash to buy clothes and CDs at Arizona Mills where they finished their spending spree.

The non-profit Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children, ages 2.5 to 18, with life-threatening medical conditions.
