Maricopa gets ‘rapped’ up

Two of the West Coast’s up and coming hip hop artists will be in Maricopa this Friday for an album release party.

Yung Wax and Maricopa resident Tycoon National are hosting their album release party at La Roca Night Club, 19599 N. Maricopa Rd., on Friday from 7 p.m. until close.

Wax, named as one of the hottest hip hop artists by several reviewers, has a newly released album, which features appearances by hip hop all-stars like E-40, Keak da Sneak, C-Note and many others. 

“This is going to be an incredible event for the city of Maricopa,” said DJ Fresco, one of the event’s organizers and a Maricopa resident.

The CD release is part of a tour Yung Wax is conducting around the western United States. He is filming a documentary about the tour and album release.

In addition to the two artists, there will also be seven others performing, including four from Maricopa, two from Casa Grande and one from Eloy.

“We are going to have a real nice mix of talent,” Fresco said.

The event will also feature a wet T-shirt contest, wet boxer contest, dance contest and more.
“These will all be clean, fun games with no nudity,” Fresco said. He added that there would be cash prizes though.

The cover charge for the event is $5 and includes one shot and a free CD.
