Gila River Indian Community Chief of Staff Greg Mendoza received the thanks of the Maricopa City Council for a grant award provided by the GRIC that made possible the purchase of a mobile emergency command center.

The trailer, which is designed to allow police and fire commanders to operate effectively near a major crime scene or disaster location, was parked outside MUSD headquarters during the meeting and was open for tours afterward. Interior features include video and communications equipment, interview rooms, a drug suspect examination room, and a self-contained water supply and waste disposal system.
