Maricopa resident Tony Vicich will bring Showtime’s Funny Women of a Certain Age to the Pence Center at Central Arizona College soon.

Vicich is a longtime Maricopa resident and one-time touring standup comic who’s been on Showtime, A&E, MTV and Comedy Central. His comedy school based in Tempe is bringing Showtime to Pinal County Sept. 23.

For nearly a quarter-century, Vicich’s ComedySchools.com has seen its alums go on to national fame. Michael Longfellow, a cast member on Saturday Night Live, started with Vicich.

Besides producing shows in Phoenix and Tempe, Vicich brokered a successful run of comedy shows at The Roost in Maricopa.

“I’m excited to bring Funny Women of a Certain Age to our area,” Vicich said. “Funny Women has had three Showtime comedy specials. They are a high-demand, sellout act throughout the country. I love that we are able to bring them to Pinal County. Folks can have an easier drive from Maricopa and see a major show without dealing with the hassles of the 347.”

Carol Montgomery, the creator of Funny Women, will headline the show. Vicich says it’s a show that proves it’s never too late — and that comedy is universal.
